The Breakthrough Waiting on the Other Side of Your Breaking Point

The Breakthrough Waiting on the Other Side of Your Breaking Point

When life's challenges become so overwhelming that they threaten your very existence—when you find yourself contemplating suicide—please know this: you may be standing just a few steps away from your breakthrough.

There's a beautiful promise in Psalm 34:18 that says, "The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit." This means that when you're at your lowest, God draws closest to you.

When you're at your lowest, God draws closest to you.

He Is Closer Than You Think

Your heart might be shattered by shame, weighed down by pain, or crushed under what feels like endless misfortune. Perhaps you've made mistakes you don't know how to fix, or you're drowning in debt with no shore in sight. Maybe you're crying out but no one seems to hear you. It might even feel like everyone is against you—like God Himself has forgotten you.

But listen to this promise from Isaiah 49:15: "Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee." Even if a mother could forget her child, God will never forget you.

When You're Overwhelmed, Try This

Whatever you're facing right now, these simple steps can help:

Start by calming yourself. Take a deep breath—then another. It's perfectly okay to step outside for a walk to clear your head. Put on some inspirational music if it helps. Notice the trees, the sky, the world around you. Let nature remind you that beauty still exists.

When you return home, find one promise from God that resonates with you and repeat it quietly to yourself. Then rest—even just a 20 or 30-minute nap can make a difference.

When you wake with a refreshed mind, grab a pen and journal. Write down what you're facing. As you write, solutions or ideas may begin to surface. Capture them on paper.

Finally, pray over what you've written and take one small step forward.

You may be standing just a few steps away from your breakthrough.
